London 2012’s Canoe Slalom invitational test event – Lee Valley
The London Prepares series is the official London 2012 sports testing programme. The closed international test event for canoe slalom took place at Lee Valley White Water Centre from 28 – 31 July 2011.
The Canoe Slalom test event is vital for testing different aspects of the competition ahead of next year’s Games, including the course, timing technology, scoring and workforce. This is the first time the course has been used for an international competition, so it really will be put through its Olympic paces. Any learning from the event will be built upon to ensure we run the best event possible next summer.
– London 2012 Organizing Committee Chair Seb Coe
175 elite athletes from 30 nations competed at one of the first competitive Canoe Slalom events at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, the London 2012 Canoe Slalom venue.
