London 2012’s Canoe Slalom invitational test event – Lee Valley

The London Prepares series is the official London 2012 sports testing programme. The closed international test event for canoe slalom took place at Lee Valley White Water Centre from 28 – 31 July 2011.

The Canoe Slalom test event is vital for testing different aspects of the competition ahead of next year’s Games, including the course, timing technology, scoring and workforce. This is the first time the course has been used for an international competition, so it really will be put through its Olympic paces. Any learning from the event will be built upon to ensure we run the best event possible next summer.
London 2012 Organizing Committee Chair Seb Coe

175 elite athletes from 30 nations competed at one of the first competitive Canoe Slalom events at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, the London 2012 Canoe Slalom venue.

The Tree of Life

We watched this movie and it is beautiful. It is a bit different than “usual” so it has been received with cheers and boos. Some interesting points regarding this movie to point your attention to.

Winning the Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, it is directed by Terrence Malick with Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain. It is about the origins and meaning of life. The movie follows a middle-aged man’s childhood memories of his family living, interchanged with imagery from the origins of the universe and inception of life on earth.
