If you are keen on finishing your run at a certain planned time, then you can now get on board the pace train. How wonderful!
Received an email from the Melbourne marathon organizers and thought I would share this with you.
|There is always a danger in long races of getting excited amidst all the euphoria at the start and hammering the first few kilometres at a much faster race-pace than normal. Invariably runners pay for their early exertions at a later stage, ruining their chances of a fast time. Thankfully a number of experienced marathoners volunteer to act as pacers to make sure you run at your planned pace. Pacers will be available for the following times: Marathon 2:50, 3:00, 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30. Half: 1:24, 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20All pace group leaders will be easily identifiable in event gear with their particular pace time clearly visible, so just jump on board with your appropriate pace group and let them carry you to a PB!|
